KELOWNA WINERIES Kelowna is the birthplace of the Okanagan's wine tradition. Kelowna (and its surrounding area) features three separate winemaking regions, currently with 19 wineries. Most wineries are open year round for tasting and tours, while some are seasonal or by appointment. In Kelowna's winemaking regions, expect to find solid table wines and internationally-recognized distinctive reds, whites, rosés, sparkling wines, and icewines. Look for the aromas and flavours of the Okanagan: herbal – sage, clover, honey and elderflower; tree fruit – apple, pear, peach and apricot; red fruit – plum, cherry, raspberry and blackberry; and earthy – stone, gravel, mineral and dust. Finally, pair a vintage with locally-sourced dishes at a winery restaurant, or with artisan cheeses on an impromptu winery picnic.
